GrahamX is G.W. Graham’s new cross-curricular, place based, and outdoor learning program that offers students the chance to experience our local environment in meaningful ways. Students will explore the curriculum of different courses during a variety of hands-on and off-site field trips and educational opportunities. Students will be grouped in a cohort and work collaboratively to explore various topics. The program is designed to give students the opportunity to learn about their local area and pursue their interests in a deep, enriching manner.
Students in GrahamX will develop an understanding of personal and social responsibility, collaborate, and think critically to explore issues and ideas associated with different topics in our community. Learning will be connected to interactive and hands-on activities so that students make connections to the world around them.
Graham X is designed to support students who excel in the following learning environments:
-Hands-on learning where the student is an active participant in a wide variety of activities
-Works well in collaborative learning. Group projects where all members of the group play an active role in the learning experience
-Demonstrates regular attendance and effort. Group projects require all members to be present and engaged in order to ensure there is an equitable workload and solid team effort.
-Works well on larger projects. Does not procrastinate and chooses to embrace sustaining continued efforts towards a large final project.
-Embraces working in all elements. Graham X is a place-based learning program where activities will take place in a variety of weather conditions
GrahamX is a half-day, full year program that will, by the end of the year, cover the curriculum from Science, Social Studies, English, and Health and Physical Education.
Give the pupils something to do, not something to learn; and the doing is of such a nature as to demand thinking; learning naturally results. — John Dewey
